What house cleaning goes for, and where that number comes from
Your price should start from your costs. These published rates are the sanity check — if you land far outside them, look at your hours and your drive before you look at your rate.

The awkward questions
Should I charge by the hour or a flat price per clean?
Most customers prefer a flat price, and it rewards you for getting faster. Work out the flat price here from your average time, then quote it. Keep an hourly rate for jobs you can't scope in advance, like a first-time deep clean.
How much more should a deep clean or move-out clean cost?
Price it from time, not a multiplier. A deep clean usually takes much longer than a standard clean of the same home, so change the hours field to your real deep-clean time and the price follows. Published guides put deep cleans roughly 30–60% above standard cleans for the same home.
Should I give a discount for weekly or biweekly cleans?
Recurring cleans take less time because the house never gets far behind, and they fill your calendar without marketing. If you discount, discount from a price that already covers your costs — run the calculator with your real recurring-clean time and see what's left.
Why does the calculator count driving time?
Because it's your time. Twenty minutes each way across 40 cleans a month is over 26 unpaid hours. Leave it out and your real hourly pay is lower than you think.
Is this what I'd take home after tax?
No. The hourly figure is before income and self-employment tax. This tool prices the job; it doesn't give tax advice.
