Copart fee calculator
The hammer price is never the whole story. Add buyer fee, virtual bid fee, gate fee, and environmental fee before you decide if the car still pencils.
Copart's fees, and the date we last looked
Fees move. When they do, this table changes and the change gets logged — that's the whole maintenance promise, and it's why the number above is worth more than a two-year-old blog post.
| Fee | Rate | Charged on | Changed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buyer fee | Tiered flat / 7.5% above $15k | Winning bid — secured payment | Apr 2026 schedule |
| Virtual bid fee | $0–$129 | Online and mobile bids — tiered by bid | Unchanged |
| Gate fee (clean title) | $79 | Every purchase — yard release | Unchanged |
| Gate fee (salvage title) | $95 | Every purchase — yard release | Unchanged |
| Environmental fee | $15 | Per vehicle | Unchanged |
The awkward questions
Why is my total higher than this?
Broker fees for public buyers (~$100+), title shipping, storage after free days, late payment penalties, and sales tax aren't in this calculator. Start with your actual Copart invoice if something's off.
Secured vs unsecured payment?
Wire, cash, cashier's check, and debit count as secured. Credit cards are unsecured and carry higher buyer fees — toggle the payment method above to compare.
Does clean vs salvage title matter?
Only for the gate fee: $79 clean, $95 salvage. Buyer fee tiers use the same standard-vehicle table in this calculator.
We'll tell you when Copart changes its fees.
Platforms change their cut quietly and you find out from a smaller payout. Pick the ones you sell on and you'll get one short email when a rate actually moves — what changed, and what it costs you per sale. Nothing else. No newsletter.
Roughly six emails a year, because that's roughly how often these fees move. Unsubscribe link in every one.
