Tax is not modeled — processing is charged on tax too when buyers pay it.
The awkward questions
Is commission charged on shipping?
No. Commission is on the item price only. But payment processing is charged on the total order value — item, buyer-paid shipping, and tax.
What about the 0% above $1,500 promotion?
For eligible categories, Whatnot charges 0% commission on the portion above $1,500. This calculator uses the standard rate on the full item price — use it for typical show sales under that threshold.
Who pays for shipping labels?
Usually the buyer via USPS flat rate ($9.21 for 1–5 lb). If you offer free shipping, enter your label cost in the shipping field as what the buyer paid (0) and your label cost separately isn't modeled — reduce your item price mentally or subtract label cost from profit yourself.
