The awkward questions
Is payment processing charged separately?
For most US domestic orders, payment processing is included in the referral fee — you won't see a separate 2.9% line. International orders may differ.
What about Fulfilled by TikTok costs?
FBT charges per-unit fulfillment (roughly $3–$4 for standard-size items) plus storage after free days. That's often the bigger cost than the referral fee on low-AOV products — model it separately.
Do affiliate sales cost more?
Yes. You pay your creator commission on top of the referral fee. TikTok also added a creator facilitation fee on affiliate-sourced orders. This calculator covers platform referral only.
