Stripe fee calculator
You know the sale amount. Stripe's cut depends on whether it's a domestic card, international card, or in-person tap. Put the number in before you quote a client.
Stripe's fees, and the date we last looked
Fees move. When they do, this table changes and the change gets logged — that's the whole maintenance promise, and it's why the number above is worth more than a two-year-old blog post.
| Fee | Rate | Charged on | Changed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Domestic cards | 2.9% + $0.30 | Successful charge | Unchanged |
| International cards | 4.4% + $0.30 | Adds 1.5% for non-US cards | Unchanged |
| Currency conversion | 1% | If required — not in this calculator | Unchanged |
| Monthly fee | $0 | Pay-as-you-go — no subscription | Unchanged |
The awkward questions
Does Stripe charge on refunds?
Stripe returns the processing fee on full refunds in most cases, but the $0.30 fixed fee may not always be returned depending on timing and dispute status. This calculator only models successful charges.
What about Stripe Connect or marketplace fees?
Not covered here. Connect adds platform-specific fees on top of base card pricing. This tool is for a straightforward charge you collect on the side.
Are you storing what I type?
No backend. The math runs in your browser.
We'll tell you when Stripe changes its fees.
Platforms change their cut quietly and you find out from a smaller payout. Pick the ones you sell on and you'll get one short email when a rate actually moves — what changed, and what it costs you per sale. Nothing else. No newsletter.
Roughly six emails a year, because that's roughly how often these fees move. Unsubscribe link in every one.
